Luncheon Meeting with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Eli Remolona
Policy credibility is an essential foundation of a stable and competitive economy. Beyond physical and digital infrastructure, businesses and investors rely on clear policy direction, sound institutions, regulatory consistency, and confidence that economic authorities can respond effectively to changing domestic and global conditions. These factors shape investment decisions, financing conditions, long-term business planning, and the overall resilience of the economy.
In 2026, the Philippine economy continues to operate amid a complex external environment marked by shifting global financial conditions, commodity-price pressures, geopolitical uncertainty, technological disruption, and rapidly evolving financial markets. These developments underscore the importance of maintaining price stability, preserving the resilience of the financial system, and ensuring that monetary and regulatory policies remain transparent, credible, and responsive to emerging risks.
As the country's central monetary authority, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas plays a critical role in promoting price stability, strengthening the financial system, and maintaining safe and efficient payment and settlement systems. The BSP's policy decisions, supervisory frameworks, and institutional communication are therefore central to sustaining confidence in the Philippine economy and supporting balanced and sustainable growth.
In this context, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines is organizing an exclusive Luncheon Meeting with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr., Chairman of the Monetary Board and Governor of the BSP. The event will provide a strategic platform for dialogue between the BSP and the European-Philippine business community on how credible monetary policy, effective financial supervision, and regulatory predictability can safeguard financial stability and strengthen investor confidence.
The luncheon meeting aims to:
- Gain insights into the BSP's assessment of the Philippine monetary and financial environment and the principal domestic and external risks facing the economy in 2026;
- Discuss the role of credible, transparent, and data-driven monetary policy in anchoring expectations and sustaining business and investor confidence;
- Examine measures to preserve banking-sector resilience and manage systemic risks amid market volatility, technological disruption, and evolving financial conditions;
- Explore how regulatory clarity and predictability can support long-term investment, capital formation, responsible innovation, and the competitiveness of the Philippine financial sector;
- Discuss priorities related to digital finance, payment-system modernization, cybersecurity, financial inclusion, and consumer protection; and
- Provide a platform for European companies and financial-sector stakeholders to share perspectives, raise emerging concerns, and identify opportunities for continued engagement with the BSP.
Through this engagement, the ECCP seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the BSP's policy direction, strengthen confidence in the country's monetary and financial institutions, and identify areas where government and industry can work together to support a stable, resilient, and investment-ready Philippine economy.
