Climate Change Risk Management
I. INTRODUCTION
Climate change is one of the most significant challenges affecting communities, economies, and ecosystems today, bringing increasing risks such as extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and disruptions to infrastructure, livelihoods, and business operations. As these impacts continue to grow, organizations and institutions must adopt structured approaches to understand and manage climate-related risks. Climate Change Risk Management (CCRM) provides a framework for identifying, assessing, and addressing both physical and transition risks associated with climate change. This session will introduce the key concepts of CCRM, including defining context and objectives, assessing risks, implementing risk management strategies, and monitoring and reporting outcomes to support more resilient and informed decision-making.
II. EVENT OVERVIEW
At the end of the session, you will learn how to:
- Understand Climate Change Impacts: Gain a clear overview of climate change and its environmental, social, and economic impacts, and how these affect organizations, infrastructure, and communities.
- Apply the CCRM Framework: Learn the principles and structure of the Climate Change Risk Management (CCRM) framework and understand how it can be integrated into planning and decision-making processes.
- Assess Climate-Related Risks: Develop the ability to identify and evaluate both physical risks (such as extreme weather events and sea-level rise) and transition risks related to policies, technologies, and market changes.
- Manage and Monitor Risks: Explore practical strategies to manage climate-related risks and establish systems for monitoring, reviewing, and reporting risks to strengthen organizational resilience.
This two-day specialized training presents an invaluable opportunity for participants to build the knowledge and practical skills needed to integrate climate risk considerations into their work and contribute to more resilient and climate-informed decision-making within their organizations.
In partnership with Innogy Solutions, this event will explore the fundamentals of climate change and introduce the Climate Change Risk Management (CCRM) framework. Participants will learn key steps in the CCRM process, including defining objectives, assessing physical and transition risks, implementing risk management strategies, and monitoring and reporting climate-related risks. Over two days, the training will provide practical insights and tools to support more resilient and climate-informed decision-making.
